A Welsh Journey

December 2, 2018December 2, 2018Categories Blog

After France we had a few days out to get our Motorhome serviced in The UK. We got to stay in a lovely hotel in Durham with an enormous bed and a bath, things that are absolute luxuries when you've been travelling for 5 months in a Motorhome. As Elddis is at the top of…

Our Last European Hurrah.

November 24, 2018November 26, 2018Categories Blog

The drive from Spain was long but when we reached the Spanish border, we realised we were the lucky ones because lined up waiting to cross the border into France were hundreds upon hundreds of trucks held up due to the petrol strikes. The petrol protests held by "The Yellow Vests" protesting rising petrol prices…

Cruising the Coast of Spain

November 19, 2018November 26, 2018Categories Blog

Porto was the end of the road for us, as far as the road goes in Europe, so the last few days have been spent making our way back up along the Spanish Coast. Our first stop was the historic town of Santiago de Compostela which was of special interest to us because it's the…

Under the Tuscan Sun.

October 27, 2018Categories Uncategorized2 Comments on Under the Tuscan Sun.

Yes I'll admit my desire to see Tuscany comes from watching Under The Tuscan Sun too many times. The dreamy countryside, the olive groves on the side of the hillsides, the old villas, italian romeo's.... So imagine actually getting to go to Tuscany. The drive from our village in Pianiga didn't exactly go well. Hating…

The Magic of Venice

October 27, 2018Categories Blog3 Comments on The Magic of Venice

We left Trieste early Sunday morning but by the time we endured the motorway traffic and the tolls, (we have spent more on tolls in the last week than on our entire weeks groceries), it was early afternoon and the clouds had returned. I had chosen a kind of "agritourism" camperstop in a small village…

From One Heritage Town to Another.

October 19, 2018October 22, 2018Categories BlogLeave a Comment on From One Heritage Town to Another.

Where to begin. We have vamped up our speed over the last few days and knocked off a bit of sight seeing so we are back in tourist mode, (although right now I'm lolling on a beach in Split while Doug gives the neighbours a tour of the motorhome). Did I mention it's been around…

Winter is Coming

October 15, 2018Categories BlogLeave a Comment on Winter is Coming

A photo essay of our time on the Krk Island in Croatia. It's been a really relaxed few days here as the Island winds down for winter. At times it has just been us and a handful of others wandering the streets. Most of the hotels and resorts, certainly all the camping grounds have closed…

So many treasured sunsets around the world and yet some of the best are right here in our backyard. #downunderwanderings#travellers#travelblogger#adventure#wanderlust#ig_travel#sunset#homeiswhereyouparkit#vanlifediaries#vanlife#purenewzealand#whananaki#nz#destinationnz#travelnz#scenic#bestintravel#

There is nothing like freshly washed washing and nothing better than seeing it blow in the wind as you sit in your deckchair with The South Island's Coastline in your sight. I hope our country never takes away the rights or the privilege to freedom camp with views like this in our backyard enjoying nature and back to basics living like this. It's such a great unwind from our everyday pressured lives and a great way to gain perspective of what really matters in life. #downunderwanderings#travellers#travelblogger#adventure#wanderlust#vanlifediaries#vanlife#purenewzealand#freecamping#homeiswhereyouparkit#nature#nz#backtobasics#
We went to walk The Heapy Track a few years ago. It's a long long drive out to Karamea and an even longer drive back in total silence after a disagreement which saw us not walking the track. However as we drove up towards Punakaiki it was hard to stay mad at each other with such beautiful scenery surrounding us. The Pancake Rocks are most spectacular in the Putai area. They were formed 30 million years ago from minute fragments of dead marine creatures and plants landed on the seabed about 2 km below the surface. Immense water pressure caused the fragments to solidify in hard and soft layers. Gradually seismic action lifted the limestone above the seabed. Mildly acidic rain, wind and seawater sculpted the bizarre shapes. That's the official description however for me it's just another beautiful natural wonder planted in New Zealand 's landscape and one that shouldn't be missed. #downunderwanderings#travellers#travelblogger#adventure#wanderlust#vanlifediaries#vanlife#purenewzealand #NewZealand#nzmustdo#punakaiki#ig_travel#landscapes#scenic#nature#destinationnz#
